This neighborhood restaurant serves up fantastic Thai food and does a booming takeout business too.
The family that runs Wonder Spice is always bustling around the place and they are really friendly. It's a testament that the original restaurant was a very small space mainly taken up but the open kitchen (the area where you walk in was it!) Then they took over the area next door when it went vacant and expanded seating dramatically - and still you'll wait for a table at peak dinner hours. They have outdoor seating out back in the warmer months too. Check out the specials - the "pine nuts" one is a real winner. It's been on the special menu for years and I hope it stays there forever. The beer and wine selection is small but well-chosen and your always sure to see someone you know as all of JP eats here from time to time.

A lovely Indian dining experience, Bukhara's chef specialties include the Tandoori Duck Masala ($14), and regional Banglore and Madras meals such as Lamb Dosa ($10). Lunch buffet daily and weekend brunch buffet noon-3pm. Lovely selection of wines and a small bar in the back, where you can sit to wait for your table (which you will have to do if you go in at peak times on the weekend). The booths here are gorgeous red leather and the food comes out in hammered copper vessels that are placed over candles to stay warm. It's those little details that make dining at Bukhara a pleasurable experience, but in the end the food is excellent and that's what counts the most. This place is just close to perfect. You can go in for a burrito, wrap or salad for lunch or dinner on the go. It's built with a large counter for take-out. The interior though is so friendly and welcoming you might decide to stay and dine-in.
The Veggie Taco Salad is the best way to grab a quick, delicious dinner and yet eat super well and healthy - just the right balance of pico de gallo, cheese, black beans, carrots, tortilla chips and that tangy lime dressing. With a Cabo Cooler it is sublime. All the wraps and burritos are good too. And the soups are great. Try the posole or the chili and you will not be disappointed.
On the weekend, "the PC" does breakfast. Suggestion - huevos rancheros wrap, yum! But available, sadly only Saturday & Sunday between 10:00am and 2:00pm.
And if that isn't enough there are an array of fantastic smoothies at the Purple Cactus too.

Centre Street Cafe serves fantastic, funky food. Brunch here is just the best thing about any weekend and the line every Saturday and Sunday proves it. They actually set up barriers on the sidewalk, to facilitate foot traffic going by outside. But the nice thing is, you just go in and help yourself to a mug of coffee from the self-service station, then get back in line. So your long wait is caffeinated at least. And the food is worth the sidewalk time. The open kitchen pumps out food with a slightly Mexican twist (the owner used to have Mi Casita where Ten Tables is now). There's a broad range of entrees, including stuff for JP's numerous vegetarians and vegans. They've been using local and organic products forever - not just in the recent trendy times.

This is a fantastic neighborhood Japanese restaurant. There is a take-out window when you first walk in - be sure to check out the daily specials before you order, there's usually at least one amazing offering there. If you want to eat in you have two options: sit at one of the tables or at the sushi bar. JP Seafood Cafe offers great lunch specials in bento boxes and entrees at diner are great as well. Their specialty is sushi and that's the main draw.

Bon Savor is one of those perfect little bistros you find in France and now, you can go to one in Jamaica Plain. There is a prix fixe menu in mid-week(Tues and Wed) which is just wonderful. 3 courses for $19.95 and 4 courses for $23.95. They serve breakfast and lunch during the week, brunch on weekends - besides dinner. It's a small place so you may have to wait during peak times, but the food is well worth it.

New American food with French influences from Krista Kranyk and her team. There is an open kitchen and there are 10 tables, literally. It's the BEST food in Jamaica Plain without question. The only restaurant in JP which is really high-end. Ten Tables gets national press and acclaim - which it deserves. Reservations are taken 7 days a week and are a very good idea as the restaurant fills up quickly. A great romantic dinner for two spot. There is a Tuesday Wine Dinner - four courses with four glasses of wine for $39. Each wine dinner has a country theme. Ten Tables is truly a small, neighborhood restaurant and worth a visit.
